Banff Trip Day 1: Othello Tunnels

At the end of August my family and I went on a road trip to Banff and Jasper National Park and Calgary. This was my fifth road trip to Banff! It seems like whenever visitors come to Vancouver we recommend or take them to Banff for the scenery.

For day 1 we headed toward the north of BC, stopping at various towns on the way. First stop was the Othello Tunnels built in the early 1900s when the Canadian Pacific Railway wanted a route to link the Kootenay Region with the BC coast by rail.

I've been to these tunnels thrice before so we were prepared with flashlights! The tunnels don't seem dark in the entrance but in the middle it is difficult to see. Plus, a flashlight would help to avoid the water dripping from the ceiling and puddles on the ground.

The majority of this day we stopped at fast food restaurants and gas stations for breaks. Unfortunately the car eats more than us.

The best for last! Coconut chocolate Pocky in the car :)
